Street Pantries

You may have noticed them on a street corner near you. In old boxes meant to deliver news, often bad news, community members are now sharing good news in the form of necessities and yes, hope. Our BeLoved Street Pantries bring necessities like food, toiletries, first aid supplies and more directly to the streets and can be accessed 24/7 by families living in poverty, people who are houseless, community, elders, people taking public transit, etc.

Hundreds in our community from preschoolers to schoolchildren, individuals and families, businesses and workplaces to faith communities and neighborhood/civic groups have engaged in this amazing project of sharing and neighboring. The Street Pantries are located throughout Buncombe County and provide easy 24/7 access to supplies near where people live, gather, or camp. The project began just after the pandemic shutdown in the spring of 2020 with 2 pantries and has now grown to over a dozen pantries and growing located all over Buncombe County.

We invite you to join our Street Pantry team today to engage in this act of radical love. It is sharing without judgment. It is caring for people we don’t know because they are hurting and are a part of our human family. Every filled pantry echoes the collective decision to walk the path of mutual support daily. You can sign up to fill a pantry on a regular basis or you can be a random filler and stop by a pantry whenever you have something to share.
