Our Black Excellence feature sheds light on noteworthy stories, the excellent work and leadership of Black people from every walk of life in Asheville, and beyond, and how our amazing people “show up” in community. Our Black rest baskets support African American community leaders in focusing on self-care and rest to uplift their continued and future leadership.
We hold regular cultural celebrations and racial healing circles to share stories, music, support, and joy. We create and distribute local Black history cards to local children and youth and area schools. We support the work of organizing for racial equity and an end to systemic racism as well as the national model work happening in our community around reparations.
